Tracking The Tropics

This morning we are watching our ninth named tropical system of the season, Hurricane Irene is making her way west and north and could make landfall on the US mainland this weekend. Good Morning Everyone, Frank Marzullo Here! It is hard to belive that since our active seasons of 2004 and 2005 we have had only 4 storms make landfall on the US mainland, the last one was Hurricane Ike in 2008. So some along the coast may have become a bit laxed in there plans for evacuation and preparation. Right now Irene is moving through Hispaniola and will eventually move into the Bahamas. We expect if Irene holds together and picks up strength she will possibly hit anywhere along Floridas east coast all the way up to the Carolina coast, late Friday into Saturday as a category 2 storm. You can track the latest here www.fox19.com/weather and on air on FOX19.
